Product notice: ending service for JukeBox; Replacing Public Events

Apr 9, 2015

Please be advised of two important product announcements:

1.    Upgrade to Public Events Calendar product:

Update: Core Publisher work continues into the fall. We are working towards a pilot release with a few select stations in mid-December to understand how to best help stations make the change. Our goal is to make this new Core Publisher event features available to all by February pending any major issues with the early users.

We’re pleased to announce that we will be upgrading the Public Events calendar product by migrating it into the Core Publisher platform. For stations using Core Publisher, this will provide a much-needed calendar upgrade including more efficient single admin interface and a more cohesive, modernized audience experience.  Non-Core Publisher stations may opt to continue to use Public Events with minimal support and no active development or they may choose to use Core Publisher for calendar functions only.  We anticipate migration to the new Core Publisher calendar platform to be complete by October 2015.

2.    Discontinuing Jukebox audio management tool:

Please be advised we will be discontinuing Jukebox effective July 1, 2015.

Jukebox is an audio processing tool used to create segmented audio clips and store audio file assets. For DS streaming customers using Jukebox for pre-roll audio, we will work with you to provide an alternative hosting location for pre-roll files.

For stations using Jukebox for segmented audio and podcast publishing, you will need to change the way you produce segmented audio and podcasts. Stations using Core Publisher can add segmented audio within the CMS admin according to the instructions here.

Stations using Jukebox who are not using Core Publisher or who do not have NPR Story API access will need an alternative tool to publish podcasts. Please refer to these suggested alternative tools:
