Tweeting is not a skill that should come out of left-field for journalists that work in radio.
That's a key point that WBUR reporter Curt Nickisch made several times during a recent Twitter chat where he shared thoughts about his use of social media during the Boston Marathon bombings and manhunt, and also in his day-to-day work.
While it does take practice, here are three key ways radio reporters are already ahead of the game on Twitter:
1. Every moment counts because people won't hear, or read, everything you do.
2. Add something new to the development of a story or conversation to stay relevant.
3. Consistently make connections to find sources and stories.
These are just a few of the useful tips Nickisch shared during the chat. Check out more, including his one Twitter tip for journalists and the three things he does every week on Twitter in the recap here.
