The #NPRKnight Spring Twitter Contest Winners Are...

May 31, 2013

Congratulations to the #NPRKnight Twitter scavenger hunt contest winners!

(Read more about the tasks in the scavenger hunt and how the winners were selected in "How the #NPRKnight Scavenger Hunt Contest Works.")

Drum roll, please...

Gold Star Award: Hilary Stohs-Krause, NET Nebraska
Young adult male fans of “My Little Pony” are known as “Bronies,” an amalgam of “bro pony.”

Stohs-Krause's tweets are engaging, interesting and varied. In addition to the scavenger hunt tasks, she shared live-tweets from a Brony conference, calls for sources on stories about foster care and guerrilla gardening, photos and more.

Honorable MentionJenny Radelet, KCRW. Radelet's voice comes through with her mix of images, story links and conversations on Twitter. Follow that Tweeter, stat.

Newcomer Award: Edel Howlin, KUHF

Howlin dived right into the scavenger hunt. Since, Howlin has continued to use Twitter to share behind-the-scenes looks at her work at KUHF in Houston (including a lego Hagrid!).

Wildcard Award: Alecia Orsini Lebeda, WCAI.

Follow WCAI on Instagram:

Check out the WCAI Instagram feed Orsini Lebeda started during the training, along with her own views of Cape Cod on her own personal Instagram feed, tweets and Vine posts.

Honorable mention: Nina Cardona/@thatninacardona, WPLN. Cardona used Vine to report on a new music city center in Nashville.

Honorable mention: Eve Troeh, WWNO. Troeh, along with coworker Jason Saul, started a new WWNO Instagram feed full of local street festivals, music and food that is making our stomachs growl.

Station Award: Colorado Public Radio

Many of Colorado Public Radio's staff participated in the scavenger hunt, and use Twitter in a smart way as journalists. The staff shared peeks behind-the-scenes, useful lists for following various topics in Colorado, internal hashtag competitions, and some tips for the other radio reporters on Twitter.

Honorable mention: KCRW. You can find a little bit of everything from the KCRW staff on Twitter. Find some of them here.

Congratulations again to the winners and thanks to everyone for playing! Check out past winners in past versions of the contest here.
