Growing your show’s social media presence can feel challenging at times, especially when you’re just starting out. But many of the basics that help reporters and stations find their foothold can help shows too.

Here at Digital Services, we're starting an ongoing project checking in with shows around the country about their digital best practices and strategies. From some of these conversations, we'll share many of the tips various public radio show staff have for succeeding online. We'll also point to relevant resources and training from our own archive. Have a suggestion for a person or show to talk to? Email it to ejohnson1@npr.org, or send us a tweet @NPRDS.

If you weren't able to join our live training webinar on February 6th, 2014 you can now watch the video or download the slides on nprstations.org.  The session included an overview of segmentation and examples of how to build visit and user segments for a few key site activities.

Here a few suggestions to get you started by building segments around or two most important activities: listening and reading.

Hello! We're pleased to share with you the last set of webinars in our three-part series on building digital news capacity. The series are based on our 11-week Knight training for stations.

The first series laid the foundation for building digital capacity in your newsroom and for crafting stories that will resonate with and engage your audience. The second installment built on that foundation by exploring workflow, photography and aggregation. And now, the last in our three-part series addresses how to engage and connect with your audience.

Greetings. At the end of the year we brought you the first set of webinars in our three-part series on building digital news capacity. The series are based on our 11-week Knight training for stations.

In addition to making our hour-long webinars easier to navigate, we will package each section to include practical follow-up activities and provide examples of what other stations are doing and a list of reference material.  This month is all about photography, one of the topics we receive the most questions about.
